Find out moreStarting this summer at Four Swans Occupational therapy for children is for those experiencing difficulties with everyday activities due to various challenges, such as motor skill delays, sensory processing issues, or developmental delays. It aims to help children develop the skills needed to participate fully in their daily lives at home, school, and in the community. Who can benefit from occupational therapy? Children with motor skill difficulties: This includes challenges with fine motor skills (like handwriting, using scissors, or getting dressed) and gross motor skills (like balance, coordination, or playing sports). Children with sensory processing difficulties: This involves challenges with how the child's brain processes sensory information (sight, sound, touch, taste, smell, movement) and how this affects their ability to participate in daily activities. Children with developmental delays: This includes delays in reaching milestones in areas like movement, communication, or social interaction. Children with conditions like ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder: Occupational therapy can help children with these conditions develop skills to manage their symptoms and participate more fully in daily life. Children who struggle with self-care tasks: This includes difficulties with dressing, toileting, feeding, and grooming. Children who struggle with schoolwork: This includes challenges with handwriting, organization, attention, and concentration. Children who have difficulty with play and social interaction: Occupational therapy can help children develop the skills needed to engage in play and interact positively with others. In essence, if a child is experiencing difficulties with any of the activities that are part of their daily life, occupational therapy may be a beneficial intervention.
